The Eternal Importance of Correct Tire Pressure

There's hardly anything on a car more important to performance and safety than tires. At the same time, it’s easy to forget or overlook them when considering your car's regular maintenance. Making sure your tires are filled correctly is one of the easiest maintenance tasks.

It's also one of the most important.

Underfilling or overfilling your tires could result in disaster. Each vehicle has a specific pressure at which it's considered safe to drive on tires. Vary from that pressure and you could have a blowout on your hands. It's especially important to check tire pressure before long road trips.

Fuel Economy

Proper tire pressure can improve fuel efficiency, too. If your tires are filled to the incorrect pressure, your car could be working harder than it needs to. Likewise, tires at differing pressures can affect fuel economy. Do yourself and your wallet a favor and make sure all four tires are filled equally and correctly.

Wear and Tear

Tire pressure can greatly affect wear patterns on your rubber. If your tires are too full or too flat, they can wear much faster than if they're filled properly. If you take a couple of minutes at regular intervals to make sure your tires are at the correct pressure, it could save you hundreds in the long run.
